Concerns have again surfaced over the financial sustainability of the town’s youth football teams amid the “spiralling cost’ of using the 3G pitch at Volunteer Park.
One year on from the issue initially being discussed at the community council, member Euan Welsh told Monday night’s meeting that Hawick Youth 2010 were facing a cost of around £10,000 per year to train and play on the surface. “This has been spoken about previously, but it is getting to the point where it feels almost unmanageable,” he said.
