Hawick could be about to undergo an “economic reawakening” following the Center Parcs announcement, according to Councillor Watson McAteer.
And in what will widely be seen as a reference to long-standing disappointment over fast-food giant McDonald’s’ apparent reluctance to open a restaurant in Hawick, Mr McAteer added that the holiday village plans could “open the door . . . for more prestigious companies to invest in the town”.
