There were “no real flood scares” over the past 12 months, it was heard at Hawick Volunteer Flood Group’s annual general meeting earlier this month.
Giving his report, chairman Stuart Marshall said the volunteers had been called out to Crowbyres on two occasions, but this had been preventative work amid the rising level of the Slitrig, he explained.
“Looking to the future”, Mr Marshall said that Scottish Borders Council had agreed to provide materials for the group to clean the flood protection scheme viewing panels.
