Benjamin Mitchell Hartop, who died last month, was a well-known and dedicated sportsman in local cricket and football circles. He was 86.
Although born in Luton in March 1937, Benny, as he was known, always considered himself a proud Hawick and Scottish person, and every Common-Riding, along with his wife, Norma, could be found up the Moor with family and friends.
