    Former Haig midwife retires after 50 years of service with NHS

    A long-serving midwife who helped deliver many Hawick babies has retired after 50 years’ service with the NHS.

    Margaret Davison worked as a community nurse and midwife in Hawick between 1981 and 1988, before moving to Borders General Hospital when the Haig Maternity Home closed.
