Life’s journey has taken him from Hawick to Hong Kong, two places that are “worlds apart” – but as he reflects this week on the 20 years he has spent away from his home town, Stuart Mackenzie concludes that he loves them both.
The 37-year-old had been looking forward to being home for the Common-Riding this month. However, rather than cheering the Cornet and mingling with Teries, his life in the Far East has been interrupted instead by Covid-19 lockdown and anti-China protests.
