Jim Borthwick is a big Celtic fan. Always has been and always will be. His great passion for football does not stop with his beloved Hoops though. The Hawick Royal Albert United chairman has been involved in local football for over 50 years.
Player, manager, committee man, club chairman, he has done it all.
“I was a late starter in playing as I used to watch Celtic play on Saturdays whenever I could,” Jim recalls. “Two of my pals – the Boyd twins, Mick and Mack played for Hawick Legion – got me interested in playing and I started off with the Legion’s second team. Dick Domingo, a Legion legend, and Benny Hartop ran the team then. There was no such thing as a manager.
