From the fringes of Hawick United Colts as a raw 13-year-old to a league-winning manager, Steven Shields has crammed a lot into more than 20 years on the local football scene.
He has spent the vast majority of his days with Hawick United and has also played for Hawick Royal Albert and been a member of the backroom staff at Hawick Waverley.
In this season of 2019-20, which has been cut short by the Covid-19 crisis, Steven took the leap in becoming a manager in his own right, and hasn’t looked back, guiding Melrose to Border Amateur League ‘C’ Division succcess at the first time of asking.
