On the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, 1918, the guns on the Western Front fell silent. The First World War was finally and thankfully over.
On Sunday morning, exactly 100 years to the day, the people of Hawick paid homage to their dead at the Cenotaph in Wilton Lodge Park.
Hawick men were quick to join the Colours for King and Country, thinking they were fighting a war to end all wars, but as we know, it didn’t turn out that way.
