SUCO Sled Dogs had a great start to their new season at the opening eventhosted by FDCUK at Kershope Forest last weekend.
On a 3.4-mile course on Saturday Diamond and Granite ran in the two-dog husky class and had two good runs to take second.
Cupar and Dexter ran in the two-dog open scooter class, having a great first run passing five teams to take first spot.
Cupar had a small cut on his pad on the Sunday so Akiera ran in his place, but they ran well together to secure the win.
Gonzo, on his first ever race, competed in the Bikejor and nailed all his turns and passed teams with no problems to record a time of 11 minutes 3 seconds.
On day two on a muddier course he was pushed a bit harder and managed 10.58 – the fastest time of the entire weekend.
Team SUCO’s Colin Spalding said: “ We are really proud of the way all the dogs performed on their first races of the season.
“Now it’s back to training with our next race being the first round of the British Championships at Eagle Brae, Inverness, next weekend (November 24/25).
“A huge thank you to Ian and Kirsty for organising the race and all the other helpers for putting on a great event and Mel Nicholson for the brilliant trophies.
“Thanks also go to our sponsors CSJ for amazing food and Think Fitness Hawick and Wilson Signs for their continued support.”
