    Teri war heroes find a new home

    Sandy Montgomery, of Orchard Street, at the medal display containing the Croix de Guerre, one of France’s top decorations, presented to his uncle, James Montgomery, of the Royal Flying Corps. James was shot down over northern France in September 1918, aged 26. He was one of four brothers serving in the Great War. Only two of them returned home

    The opening of the revamped War Room at the museum on Saturday will house a permanent exhibition focusing on the impact the First World War had on Hawick.

    Over 100 invited guests attended what is the culmination of two years’ work by staff and volunteers to develop a fitting display to mark the impact on and contribution made by Teries  to Britain’s wars.
