    Town takes battering from storm

    Storm Ali unleashed havoc in and around the town on Wednesday, with gusts of up to 70mph causing widespread damage.

    The high winds left a trail of destruction, bringing down trees in Mansfield Road, Howdenbank, Burnfoot Road, Fraser Avenue, Slitrig Crescent, Stirches and Silverbuthall, as well as one or two in Denholm.
