    Council put cemetery safety first

    Headstone testing in local cemeteries will see unsafe memorials cordoned off and signage put in place, Scottish Borders Council said this week.

    The programme of inspections, which includes Wilton, Wellogate and Denholm cemeteries,  is “essential” and will help to ensure public and staff safety.

    SBC told us that the families of the deceased can contact the council and arrange for the headstone to be made safe themselves.
