    £1.8M to be ploughed into town

    Hawick was yesterday handed a multi-million pound boost with the news that two new training initiatives will be set up in the town.

    Plans unveiled will see Hawick benefit from around £1.8million of funding – approved by the South of Scotland Economic Partnership (SOSEP) – leading to a brand new £1.2million construction hub at Borders College’s Buccleuch Road campus; and the creation of a £600,000 Centre of Excellence for Textiles, at an as yet undecided location in the town.
