    ‘Substandard’ work to fix potholes sees firm go to ground

    Repairs to a pothole-ridden stretch of road on the outskirts of the town have been branded “substandard”.

    And amid heavy criticism, officials from Amey Highways, which is responsible for the maintenance of the badly rutted section of the A7 just north of the Homebase roundabout, appear to have gone to ground, ignoring our requests for a comment on the situation.
