    The Big Four – Cornet Elliot Hutton, his Right and Left, George Peden and Carswell Imrie, and Acting Father Jackie Robertson – are carried shoulder high from the town hall with the 1968 Common-Riding in full swing

    The Cornet’s mounted followers did not wear riding hats, the Tower Hotel played a massive part in Common-Riding activities and there was not a single gazebo to be seen on the Mair.
