A High Street bank has handed a local good cause the perfect kick-start to 2018 with a cheque for £200.
The TSB in Hawick recently joined forces with staff at the Galashiels branch to boost the coffers of newlyannounced charity partner, Home Basics, whose spokesman said it was “honoured” to be associated with the bank.
He added: “We are looking forward to our partnership with both TSB branches, and their cheque will help us provide low-income families with discounted furniture and white goods.”

Messrs Gilfether and Johnston have also been promoting the charity in their branches, and volunteering.
The charity has shops in Teviot Crescent and Walkerburn.
