    Life-saving work nets Mark national award

    An ambulance paramedic from Hawick has been presented with a national award by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

    Mark Neil, 45, was one of four ambulance staff to receive the Brave@Heart award at a special ceremony held at Edinburgh Castle last week.

    The presentations followed a day of drama when two ambulance teams were dispatched to a patient undergoing a breech birth with the umbilical cord stuck tight around the baby’s neck.
