Iain Jardine has high hopes for Nakeeta ahead of the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday, when the Hawick trainer hopes to make history in one of the world’s most prestigious flat races.
Already the first Scottish trainer to be represented in the Flemington showpiece, he is also aiming to be the first from Britain to saddle a winner in the famous race.
Nakeeta has been full of beans this week while in quarantine at the Werribee International Horse Centre, where Hawick brothers Bruce and Chris Lynn have been looking after him.
