
Plans for a 12-turbine wind farm on the Harwood Estate, five miles south of Hawick, are to be recommended for approval by Scottish Borders Council.
Julie Hayward, the local authority’s principal planning officer, will tell Monday’s planning and building standards committee meeting that although the Energiekontor UK proposal – which comprises seven turbines up to 149.9m high and five 20m shorter – would “dominate the landscape from certain viewpoints . . . the site does benefit from a degree of containment, limiting the visual impact to some extent”.
