    Villagers’ roadwork hopes hit the skids

    Residents in Bonchester Bridge are disappointed that the long-awaited resurfacing work to a dangerous bridge in the village hasn’t included an anti-skid surface.

    Hopes were raised that an 18-month campaign to have the road surface to the bridge on the A6088 south of the village improved was at an end last week when a £50,000 SBC capital budget work was completed.

    But the work was completed without an antiskid surface.
