In a game that did not have a lot going for it, Hawick United returned to winning ways when a late Ross Scott goal snatched a 1-0 victory away to Stow.
Neither side really made much impact in a dour Border Amateur League Division A clash that failed to conjure up much excitement or imaginative football.
Apart from United’s Robbie Kelly being just off target with a good effort as well as being kept at bay by a brilliant stop from the Stow keeper, the first 45 minutes of the match was something of a non-event.
The second period fell into the same mould and a no-scoring draw appeared destined until the Tangerines pulled something out of the bag with minutes remaining when Scott smacked home a dramatic winner.
United manager Geo Shepherd said: “The game never really came to life. It was pretty poor and not a lot happened. I thought we just edged it though and overall deserved to win.”
