Hawick Harlequins travelled to Scremerston for what proved to be a keenlycontested game which swung in the balance right to the end, the visitors escaping with a win that keeps them top of the league by a point.
It was not a vintage performance from the Quins, but a lot of heart was shown to withstand the pressure Berwick applied in the second half and they now go into a well deserved rest week top of the table.
Coach Derek Armstrong will be hoping this period will allow some niggles to heal and Quins can come back refreshed against Portobello at Wilton Lodge Park in two weeks’ time.
The game started brightly for Quins, who took control early doors, and with the forwards in particular to the fore, they were able to keep Berwick under pressure in their own half.
