    Marcus makes his mark as new tactics work well

    Hawick Boxing Club’s Marcus Brogan returned from Alloa with a victory after the referee stopped his contest in the second round.

    Marcus overcame local boy Billy Stewart in front of what was a very hostile crowd on Saturday night to bring the victory home.

    Adopting new tactics for this fight after his slow start on the Hawick show, Marcus came out determined to earn Stewart’s respect from the first bell.

    He led with a quick jab and accurate combinations to quickly force his opponent onto the back foot. Stewart had no answer to Brogan’s quick start and resorted to grabbing and spoiling tactics which earned him a warning from the referee towards the end of the first round.
