    Thomson steers Scots to sevens Euro trophy

    Hawick’s Lisa Thomson skippered Scotland’s women to victory in the second and final leg of the Rugby Europe Women’s Sevens Trophy in Hungary last weekend.The Scots crushed Germany 33-5 in the final, and a second successive tournament triumph means the Scots have qualified for the 2018 Sevens Grand Prix Series.

    Thomson, 19, is a full Scotland international who plays her club rugby for Edinburgh University and was only appointed sevens captain at the start of this summer by head coach Scott Wight.

    The Scots finished the two-round tournament unbeaten, scoring 81 tries and conceding only 12 points across two rounds.
