Residents are demanding action after a child was injured in a fall on a “badly churned up road” at Burnfoot, where there have been repeated promises of repair.
Hawick and Denholm councillor Stuart Marshall is sympathetic to their demands having spent some two years trying to resolve the long-running problem on land to the rear of McLagan Drive, adjacent to the Burnfoot shops.
“For some time now – two years in fact – I’ve been trying to resolve an issue regarding a very badly churned up road that is apparently owned by SBHA,” he explained.
“I am sick of constantly being told that it will be repaired, and last year I was even told that the job was being priced and put out to tender. Residents are now demanding action and quite rightly so. Last week I was contacted by a young mum whose young child fell into one of the large craters and allegedly received stitches for a cut.
“This road now requires urgent work. I can only hope that SBHA follow through with their promise of getting it resurfaced before more accidents occur.”
SBHA responded: “SBHA are currently working on a portfolio of areas – roads, cul-de-sacs and garage sites in our estates throughout the Borders that require investment.”
