A local charity is more than £5,000 better off thanks to a father-and-son fund-raising duo who battled freezing conditions to complete a marathon bike ride in Keilder Forest earlier this year.

Last Friday, Colin and Simon Spalding handed Love Life, the Hawick-based cancer charity, a massive cheque boost, and Colin and son Simon would like to thank Teries for their generosity, not only through sponsorship of the Kielder 24-hour bike event, but also at a coffee morning and a bike ride in Morrisons.

Colin added: “It was very humbling when people told us stories about their battles with cancer and this encouraged us to try even harder with our fund-raising.”

Love Life’s Jan Wilson told us: “We’re always amazed at what people are willing to do to raise money for our charity and this amazing amount donated by Colin and Simon will help so much in the fight against cancer. A big big thank you to all involved in their efforts.”
