A local businessman is doing his bit to help pupils at Burnfoot Community School develop their early literacy skills.
Steve Porter, from Porters Porches and Conservatories, in Princes Street, donated £200 towards buying games, books, puppets and masks to enable primary ones to create their own story sacks – a large cloth bag with a favourite children’s book and supporting materials.
Primary one teacher Dianne Murphy said the story sacks would make literacy fun and thanked Mr Porter for his generous donation.
Also pictured are pupils Toby Middlemas, Wikotria Witzak, Ben McCutcheon and Leisha Donaldson.
