Hawick High U-16s are in the semi-final of the Scottish Schools Plate competition after a hard fought 21-15 victory over Preston Lodge High School at the Volunteer Park on Tuesday.
Preston Lodge started strongly but Ewart Cameron crashed over after a period of Hawick pressure and Charlie Welsh secured the extras.
Corey Tait drove over from a ruck and Welsh kicked the extras to put Hawick 14-5 ahead at the break.
Rhys Tait showed his class to storm over for a third try ten minutes after the restart.
Welsh again converted. The visitors fought back towards the end, scoring twice in quick succession.
