Police are appealing for information following a serious collision on the outskirts of the town at the weekend.
The A698 was closed for four-and-a-half hours at the junction with the A6088 Bonchester Bridge road from around 11am on Saturday, as a result of the accident which involved a Nissan Almera travelling eastbound and a Triumph Tiger 800 motorcycle heading westbound.
A 52-year-old male biker was taken to Borders General Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Nissan, believed to be female, was not hurt. Sergeant Neil Inglis, of Galashiels Road Policing Unit, said: “We’ve spoken to a number of witnesses to this collision so far, but as part of our ongoing enquiries, we’d urge anyone who may have any information which may be able to help to get in touch as soon as possible.”
