    Boys charged over burnt poppy wreaths

    Two boys have been charged in connection with an incident which saw two poppy wreaths set alight at the war memorial on Sunday, October 1.

    The males, aged 12 and 13, will be reported to the children’s reporter, while inquiries are continuing to identify another individual believed to have been involved.

    Inspector Carol Wood, from Police Scotland, said: “We recognise the distress and anger this incident caused the local community and the public can be reassured that this matter has been investigated robustly.

    “We are continuing with our inquiries and if you believe you have any other information relevant to this incident then please contact us immediately.”

    Police can be reached via 101, quoting incident 1547 of October 1.
