    The number of neglected buildings and the visual clutter of mixed signage have made the High Street a sorry sight

    A local councillor is calling for a concerted community effort to improve the appearance of the town’s High Street.

    Hawick and Denholm Councillor Clair Ramage said: “I walked along the High Street and was appalled at the state of many of the buildings.

    “There was vegetation growing out of gutters and many of the buildings look dangerous – and that is just the frontage.
