    Avril’s Trust nominated for Pride of Britain award

    A local charity which has been the driving force behind life-saving defibrillators being installed around the town, has been nominated for a prestigious Pride of Britain award.

    Avril’s Trust, which was set up in 2014 in memory of Avril Brown, who died aged just 35 following a cardiac arrest, has so far raised around £64,000 for research into sudden heart failure, to help buy the defibrillators and fund cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training.

    The charity will now join other local good causes to feaure on the ITV Border news bulletin between Monday to Thursday next week, with a panel of judges tasked with selecting the charity which goes forward to the glittering ceremony at the Grosvenor House in London.
