It was a meeting of the league leaders. The two respective sides were on equal points and everything pointed to this encounter being a closely-fought, tight affair.
Hawick Waverley, however, blew this away by putting their Jedburgh opposition to the sword with a swashbuckling display.
In the first period in particular the Wilton Lodge Park men were phenomenal.
Waverley showed in this and other games early in the season that Mick Hope has flair, strength and quality within his ranks.
Although on the wrong end of a drubbing, Jed Legion are a decent side but had no answer to the Waverley onslaught.
Signed in the close season from East of Scotland League outfit Coldstream, Waverley had a top performer in hat-trick Hossack.
