A former teacher turned councillor has voiced grave concerns about the poor condition of Hawick High School, accusing the local authority of “leaving it behind”.
Retired art teacher Clair Ramage, now elected to represent Hawick and Denholm, has spoken out about the deteriorating state of the Buccleuch Road school – highlighting problems from exposed wires to leaking roofs.
Mrs Ramage, who taught at the school for 34 years, said: “Hawick is being left behind in the regeneration of schools, and the recent announcement that Jedburgh is getting a new education campus, has hammered another nail in our coffin.”
