Hawick’s business community has united in condemnation after vandals set fire to two wreaths at the war memorial at the weekend.
Local company bosses have donated £50 each in a bid to flush out the culprits, with a total of £600 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of one or more people.
The sickening incident, which saw wreaths from the King’s Own Scottish Borderers Association and Lodge 111 being set alight, has also led to calls for CCTV in the area to be beefed up.
