    The countdown to this year’s Common-Riding has started with hundreds of supporters descending on Cavers on Wednesday on a cool but dry night.

    Halberdier Keith Douglas-Hogg, escorted by the Drums and Fifes, delivered the all-important letter from Provost Clair Ramage inviting Joseph Jordan Nuttall to be Hawick’s 308th Cornet.
