Today’s edition – the 200th since our launch almost four years ago – is a milestone which fills everyone involved with the paper with great pride.
That we’re still going strong against a backdrop of seemingly never-ending industry pay-offs and downsizing is testament to our dedicated team, and you, our loyal readers and advertisers, whose unflinching support puts us head and shoulders above our competitors.
As we said a few months ago, we firmly believe we’re the top performing paper in the UK and only a complete dearth of up-to-date circulation figures for other newspapers prevents us from shouting this from the rooftops. Again, though, without our readers, advertisers, and retail outlets we would be nothing.
Two-hundred papers on from our first edition, we hope we have become the go-to, trusted source of your local news. Our talented journalists go above and beyond every week to get the big stories, the stories that no one else has, the stories that really matter to you. Please be assured this relentless pursuit of local news, with reporters on the ground in Hawick, will continue.
Readers may recall that four years ago we pledged to give readers a voice like no other local newspaper. This has, we feel, been where we’ve made headlines of our own, thanks to the phenomenal amount of people contacting the paper with stories, and putting their trust in us to tell those stories to the wider public.
We are your newspaper, so don’t ever think twice about getting in touch.
Of course, there are far more important issues in the world today than a particular milestone for your local newspaper, and as such we will never be able to thank you enough for your support in these unprecedented times.
Look after yourselves everyone.
