A Dean McColm goal was enough to book Hawick Waverley their passage into the second round of the Scottish Amateur Cup.
In their first outing in the competition for seven years, Waverley had to go every inch of the way to gain the honours in a hard-fought, gritty encounter.
The first half conjured up few scoring opportunities but the second half was to be a different story with close calls at both ends of the pitch.
