In his chairman’s report at Hawick Flood Group’s recent annual general meeting, Councillor Stuart Marshall said he was “relieved that during the past 12 months they have only received two flood alerts”.
One was in November 2017 and the other January 24 this year, when flood gates on all of the town’s bridges were closed for around six hours.
On both occasions, river levels returned to normal very quickly and the group’s services were not required.
