    Fresh bid to tackle shoplifters

    Attempts are to be made to revive a shoplifter alert scheme in Hawick, amid a claim that retail theft is at an “industrial level”.

    Making that assertion  at Monday night’s community council meeting was Scottish Borders Council councillor, Watson McAteer, following the monthly police report which contained a string of shoplifting incidents in September.
