Last remaining bank to close

Hawick is set to be without a bank for the first time in almost 300 years with the announcement that Bank of Scotland is to close on October 7 next year.

The “bombshell” news comes just two months after Santander closed its doors, and follows several bank closures over the last decade or so in the town, namely The Cydesdale, RBS and TSB.
