    Centenary exhibition gives revealing insight into life of the late, great Bill McLaren

    Tributes were paid to the “loved, admired and respected” Bill McLaren at the official opening of an exhibition at the museum marking the centenary of his birth.

    Scottish rugby internationalist and British Lion, Andy Irvine MBE, declaring the exhibition open on Monday night, hailed Bill as “the world’s no1 rugby commentator”.

    He was “fair, knew his rugby and had a great voice. He collated immense detail of players and prepared  well before every broadcast”.
