Hawick could have its own street-cleaning team if moves by the town’s regeneration body bear fruit.

Future Hawick chairman Colin Hope told us this week: “It seems clear from my involvement in the research work carried out by the Town Team steering group that the state of the High Street was of major concern to townsfolk, both in terms of empty shops and general cleanliness.
