    With the death of Queen Elizabeth three days previously, the continuing history of the town was played out on Sunday with Provost Watson McAteer reading out the Proclamation of Accession to the throne of King Charles III from the town hall balcony.

    There was a gathering estimated of several hundred Teries, young and old, in the street below, despite the short notice of the solemn ceremony not being able to be extensively publicised beforehand.
