
With water levels at Alemoor reservoir at their lowest in more than quarter of a century, an appeal is being made to the public to help save supplies.
A spokesperson for Scottish Water explained: “Alemoor reservoir is currently 44 per cent full, which is low for this time of year and is the lowest it has been at this time of year since 1995.
“We are doing everything we can operationally to ensure we maintain normal supplies.”
Average reservoir levels across Scotland in the past week have fallen by 2 per cent to 59 per cent. This follows record levels of low rainfall in parts of Scotland recently.
Average reservoir levels across Scotland at this time of year are usually just above 80 per cent.
