    Bunting for Tour goes up

Common-Riding bunting is providing a colourful High Street to mark the penultimate stage of the Tour of Britain starting in the town next Saturday – all thanks to volunteers.

Members of the Common-Riding Committee and Hawick Volunteer Group had the flags up across the street on Sunday, August 22, completed in 1hr 10mins.

Ex-Cornet John Hogg, committee and volunteer group chairman, told us: “It was a great effort to promote Hawick’s welcome to the Tour and thanks go to the 25 volunteers who turned out to help.”

    • Today (Friday) the group are adding further colour to the town by erecting replica cycling tops of the competing teams along the main thoroughfare.
