    Tapestry ‘emergency’ as further £316k agreed for project

    The Great Tapestry of Scotland Visitor Centre in Galashiels has been branded a “white elephant” just hours after Scottish Borders Council agreed to pump an additional £316,000 of public money into the controversial project.

    The extra allocation of cash, which will allow for “specialist display cases” to house the 143-metre long tapestry, was unanimously approved by councillors
    at Tuesday morning’s executive committee meeting.
