    Horse racing returned to action on Monday when Newcastle hosted the first fixture at any of Britain’s 59 courses since March 18.

    The move has been widely welcomed by those involved in the billion-pound industry, not least trainers and jockeys whose livelihoods have been on hold over the last 11 weeks.
