    John Houston played 80 games for Edinburgh Rugby after joining the pro club in 2007. PICTURE: SNS/SCOTTISH RUGBY

    John Houston’s first ever season of senior rugby saw him help Hawick win the league, Scottish Cup and Border League in 2001/02, so it is no surprise that he looks back on that time with great fondness.

    Now 37, Houston went on to have a stellar career with the Greens, Heriot’s, Edinburgh Rugby, Scotland Sevens and Scotland ‘A’.
